CENTRO are ready to submit new plans for Stourbridge Bus Station, after the last plans were withdrawn following a new initiative called 'Transforming Bus Travel', and these plans are the first major building since this initiative was introduced.
The new plans, which will see the bus station renamed 'Stourbridge Interchange', will feature environmentally friendly design ideas and include a landmark canopy focal point and new covered walkway.

The new interchange will have eight bus stands in the main waiting area and a further stop in Vauxhall Road for passengers moving between bus and rail services. Also, throughout the interchange, there will be CCTV, help points and a public address system.
Plans for the new interchange will be submitted for planning approval in late July or early August. If plans are passed by Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council, work will be expected to start on the new interchange in 2010 and should be completed by 2011.
