Sunday 22 April saw Stourbridge Interchange open for the first bus of the day, which was the 07:37 number 9 driven by Driver Pearson, and the first passenger to board the bus was Anna Loss, a trainee midwife at Birmingham University.
The first day saw no problems, and Arriva's first 257 was also the first bus to go into the Interchange backwards after it took a wrong turn down Foster Street to get onto the Ring Road, which resulted in the driver reversing into the entrance so that he could go towards Birmingham Street.
The building is impressive with covered walkways, information desk, CCTV, stairs and lift from the subway taking you straight into the interchange building.
It was well worth the eighteen months wait, and the opening brings all the services into one place. Shelters in Birmingham Street and Parkfield Road will now be taken down in the next few days.
